Dr. Carlos Green, fifth year Otolaryngology resident and T32 research scholar from University of Miami, received Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) grant funding for his project ‘TrkB Inhibition and Perineural Invasion in HNSCC.’
His postdoctoral T32 research focused on the neurotoxic effects of cisplatin chemotherapy on taste perception. He is an aspiring academic head and neck cancer surgeon.

Dr. Micheal Sylvester, fifth year Otolaryngology resident and T32 research scholar from University of Michigan, received Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) grant funding for his project ‘Post-Transcriptional Regulation by HuR in CRSwNP.’
His current research aims to advance understanding of the posttranscriptional regulatory mechanisms contributing to the development and persistence of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis with the further aim of identifying new potential therapeutics.

Dr. Angela Powell was elected as the 2021 At-Large Private Practice Director by the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is a Pediatric Otolaryngologist at Georgetown University.
Dr. Ebone Evans was selected to serve as a member of the AAO-HNS/F National Simulation Education Committee.

Dr. Shannon Fayson was one of two recipients of the University of Michigan Department of Otolaryngology’s Resident Research Grant Award for her research project ‘Racial Disparity in Surgical Outcomes for Pediatric Sleep Apnea.’
Dr. Jean A. Eloy was honored with the 2021 Distinguished Alumnus Award from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. This award is presented on behalf of the faculty and students of the New Jersey Medical School to an alumnus in recognition of outstanding achievement in his/her specialty.
